Another late start, but we need the rest, we haven't had a day off for a week. For many riders this is not a big thing, but both of us are in the "getting into shape" mode and need time for muscle regeneration. A good friend, Karla Casey and her family from San Clemente are going to put us up for a couple of days, while we clean clothes, get some good food into us, and get some bike repairs.
I hit a pot hole yesterday and my rear wheel is slightly out of whack, and the ticking noise in Andy's back is back. Both of us have new rear derailers and they need slight adjustments as the cables have stretched.
The ride is fairly uneventful until we get to Laguna Beach and again are faced with the famous up and downs of the California Coast. No big hills, just all hills. Interesting as we go south you see the communities are newer and newer.
As we approach San Clemente I think both of us are ready for a couple of days off.
Notice Andy's hair is getting crushed by the helmut, and striped by he sun through the helmut and he desperatley needs a shave!

Pictured is Karla, her children Kindel and Kyle, and Kindel's friend Ben, and the family pet , Kimo. Karla is a mother first, surfer second, and sometimes a real estate broker. We met her in Maui, and she, Barb and I have become good friends. A few years ago, Karla and I went to Italy together when a friend she had planned the trip with had to cancel. Interestingly she was just at our house in Maui last week before we got here. Both children are excellent students, and Kindel will be starting an art school in the fall majoring in Fashion Design and Marketing....I think I'm getting that right. Kyle is an expert in Flight Simulator and dreams of being a pilot. Kimo...well he likes crickets!

We get the bikes serviced, have some quite R&R, Andy is visited by one of his friends, Chris Jones, and although both of us are very grateful and with almost a hard reluctance resume our ride on the 22nd
